About the Angioplasty & Stenting
Coronary angioplasty, also called Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), is a procedure used to open clogged heart arteries. It involves temporarily inserting and inflating a tiny balloon where your artery is clogged to help widen the artery. This is followed by the placement of a small wire mesh tube called a 'stent' to keep the artery open long-term. Dr. Singh uses the latest generation Drug-Eluting Stents (DES) that slowly release medication to prevent the artery from narrowing again.
"For complex blockages, Dr. Singh uses advanced intracoronary imaging (IVUS/OCT) to 'see' inside the artery with microscopic detail, ensuring the stent is perfectly placed and expanded."

Common Concerns
Providing clarity and confidence for your procedure.
How long does a stent last?
Stents are permanent implants designed to stay in your artery for life. The drug-eluting coating helps prevent the artery from closing up again in the first few months.
Will I need bypass surgery later?
In most cases, successful angioplasty prevents the need for bypass surgery. However, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and taking medications is key to preventing new blockages elsewhere.
When can I exercise again?
You can start walking the day after discharge. Avoid heavy gym workouts or lifting for about 10-14 days. Dr. Singh will give you a personalised exercise plan.
